Abstract
This study was carried out to enhance the proliferation rate of lily plants in vitro. In case of Lilium Oriental Hybrids ¢¥Casa Blanca¢¥, ¢¥Cascade¢¥, ¢¥Marco Polo¢¥, and ¢¥Star Gazer¢¥, multiple shoots were induced from a microscale section (3¡5§±), which were subcultured for further proliferation on MS solid medium containing 5 ¥ìM BA and 5 ¥ìM 2.4-D. Callus was preferentially formed in L. longiflorum and L. ¡¿ formolongi on the same medium. More shoots were appeared in outer located scales, in lower portions of scales and under light than in dark condition. From the results of this experiment, bulblets of L. Oriental Hybrids ¢¥Casa Blanca¢¥ could be proliferated by 4.8 million times per year with the multiple shoots induced. Bulblets regenerated from the multiple shoots were morphologically similar to those obtained from in vitro microscaling.
